Using Declarative Specifications in Business Process Design
نویسندگان
چکیده
Business process modeling techniques, such as BPMN, encourage the early specification of the exact order in which the activities of the process will be executed. However, a business process may be exposed to different environments and subjected to many conditions in which a sequence cannot be identified at design time. We present declarative business process specifications that can be used to align optional process customizations, as well as process redesign, with the business strategy of an organization. These specifications complement the traditional (imperative) business process model by specifying the process independently from a particular environment.

Compliant Business Process Design by Declarative Specifications
We propose algorithms to synthesise the specifications modelling the capabilities of an agent, the environment she acts in, and the governing norms, into a process graph. This process graph corresponds to a collection of courses of action and represents all the licit alternatives the agent may choose to meet her outcomes. The starting point is a compliant situation, i.e., a situation where an a...
متن کاملConformance Checking Based on Multi-Perspective Declarative Process Models
Process mining is a family of techniques that aim at analyzing business process execution data recorded in event logs. Conformance checking is a branch of this discipline embracing approaches for verifying whether the behavior of a process, as recorded in a log, is in line with some expected behavior provided in the form of a process model. Recently, techniques for conformance checking based on...
متن کاملProcess-Centric Views of Data-Driven Business Artifacts
Declarative, data-aware workflow models are becoming increasingly pervasive. While these have numerous benefits, classical process-centric specifications retain certain advantages. Workflow designers are used to development tools such as BPMN or UML diagrams, that focus on control flow. Views describing valid sequences of tasks are also useful to provide stake-holders with highlevel description...
متن کاملVerification from Declarative Specifications Using Logic Programming
In recent years, the declarative programming philosophy has had a visible impact on new emerging disciplines, such as heterogeneous multi-agent systems and flexible business processes. We address the problem of formal verification for systems specified using declarative languages, focusing in particular on the Business Process Management field. We propose a verification method based on the g-SC...
متن کاملUsing Discriminative Rule Mining to Discover Declarative Process Models with Non-atomic Activities
Process discovery techniques try to generate process models from execution logs. Declarative process modeling languages are more suitable than procedural notations for representing the discovery results deriving from logs of processes working in dynamic and low-predictable environments. However, existing declarative discovery approaches aim at mining declarative specifications considering each ...
